Innovation and sustainability in Viticulture and Enology PhD Research school

Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore - Campus of Piacenza in collaboration with The School of Advanced Studies on Food and Nutrition activates the "Innovation and sustainability in Viticulture and Enology PhD Research school" from 25th to 29th September 2023

The PhD School is part of a project funded by the Emilia-Romagna Region, which provides funds to University of Parma in relation to "Emilia Romagna Food Science Advanced Doctoral Training Program”, https://phooder.unipr.it/

This intensive program on Innovation and Sustainability in Viticulture and Enology relies upon three main pillars:

1)     Illustrate the added value of precision viticulture and enology techniques as modern approaches of the wine value chain that are nowadays considered essential to combine accomplishment of quality standards, production efficiency, and reduction of environmental impact.

2)     Transfer the most recent knowledge and methodologies to new generation of experts that are expected to bring the wine sector into a modern scenario where digitalization will contribute at increasing economic, environmental and social sustainability. In parallel, the digital revolution will offer reliable solutions for adapting the entire wine value chain to climate change.

3)     Describe the main phases of a sustainability certification of the wine value chain according to national and European standards and along the path of the farm-to-fork strategy. Describe the meaning and illustrate the methodologies required for calculating Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), carbon and water footprint of the wine industry.

The enrolment will close 4 September 2023
